Debra Cootware has always created, but found her passion for painting in a workshop on Mom’s night out. She began in oils, then discovered acrylics; her chief medium. She also creates in charcoal, pencil, and collage. Debra balances her realism style by breaking out in contemporary expression. She particularly enjoys blind contour drawing for its freedom after the intense detail work demanded in realism. She often translates these expressive line drawings, created blindly, into paintings of vivid colors. Her studio is in Battle Ground, Washington where she lives with her husband, Greg.
